  • In 2006-2007, SMG represented Metropolitan Real Estate Investors in its acquisition of 3 million square feet of office properties valued at over $1 billion.
  • In December 2006, SMG represented Metropolitan Real Estate Investors in its acquisition of the 600,000 square foot Bank One Building in Dallas valued at $250 million.
  • In November/December 2006, SMG represented Westcore Properties in its purchases of 19 office buildings (1.4 million square feet) in Colorado valued at $194 million and 2 office buildings (450,891 square feet) in San Francisco valued at $126 million.
  • In September 2006, SMG represented Gale International in its joint venture with Morgan Stanley to purchase 203 acres of undeveloped land in the Boston Seaport District for $200 million. They plan to develop 6.5 million SF of office/residential/retail/hospitality space.
  • In 2006, SMG represented Vornado Realty Trust in its acquisition of over $1 billion of retail and office assets.
  • In 2006, SMG represented Broadway Partners in its acquisition of 14 office properties totaling 9.5 million square feet in transactions valued at $4.7 billion. Among the properties acquired in the 2.5 million-square-foot portfolio were the John Hancock Tower in Boston and the Citigroup Center in Los Angeles. Additional properties included the Rookery in Chicago, 522 Fifth Avenue in New York City and 10 Post Office Square in Boston.
  • In 2006, SMG represented Trizec Properties REIT in an $8.9 billion sale to a joint venture of The Blackstone Group and Brookfield Properties Corp.
  • In 2006, SMG represented The Rockefeller Group Development Corp. and Gale Real Estate Services Co. in their joint venture acquisition of the former ExxonMobil campus in Florham Park, N.J. The planned development of the 484-acre mixed-use project includes the new headquarters and training facility for the New York Jets.
  • In 2006, SMG represented Douglas Emmett, Inc., a Southern California-based REIT, in its initial public offering of $1.4 billion.
  • In 2006, SMG represented CBRE Realty Finance, a real estate finance and investment company sponsored by CB Richard Ellis, in its initial public offering of $139 million.
  • In 2006, SMG represented JP Morgan Real Estate Funds in its acquisition of five hotels, a residential complex, student housing facilities, five retail centers, and 20 office properties in transactions valued at $1.15 billion.
  • In 2006, SMG represented U-Store-It Trust in its acquisition of 60 storage facilities totaling 3.7 million square feet valued at $363 million.
  • In 2006, SMG represented Thor Equities in its acquisitions, refinancings and 1031 exchanges totaling $800 million. These transactions included the refinancing of the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago and the acquisition of the Macomb Mall in Michigan.
  • In 2006, SMG orchestrated the three-way Mack-Cali/SL Green/Gale Company transaction in which Mack-Cali acquired The Gale Company/SLGreen BelleMead New Jersey portfolio consisting of 30 office buildings. Mack-Cali also acquired Gale Real Estate Services Co. as a part of this transaction valued at $545 million; one of the largest ever in New Jersey.
  • From 2005-2007, SMG has represented Gale International in the development of New Songdo City, South Korea. The project to develop Songdo City on 1,500 acres of land along Inchon’s waterfront at a cost of $25-$30 billion is the largest privately financed real estate development in Korean history.
  • In 2005, SMG represented Arden Realty in its company sale to GE Real Estate, valued at $4.8 billion. As part of the transaction, Arden also sold a 13 property portfolio located in Southern California to Trizec Properties for $1.6 billion.
  • In 2005, SMG represented DRA Pension Advisors in its acquisition of CRT Properties ($1.8 billion) and Capital Automotive Trust ($3.4 billion). These transactions involved the acquisitions of 2 NYSE REITs, in leading 2005 public-to-private transactions.
  • Between 2003 and 2007, SMG represented leading companies in 35 IPO/144A offerings including Lexington Strategic Capital, GMH Communities Trust, Republic Properties Trust, Douglas Emmett, Morgan’s Hotel Group, Lightstone, American Financial Realty Trust, Kite Realty, Spirit Finance, Gramercy Capital, Bimini Mortgage, U-Store-It, Northstar, and Government Properties Trust.
  • In 2004-2005, SMG represented Thor Equities in its acquisitions including the Cheltenham Mall in suburban Philadelphia, the Eastpoint Mall in Baltimore, the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, the Merritt Square Mall in Florida, the Tri-County Mall in Ohio, Coco Walk and Beach Place in South Florida, Centro Grand Caribe Mall in Puerto Rico, and condominium developments located at 158 Madison Avenue and 88 Greenwich Street in New York City. These transactions were valued at $1.5 billion.
  • In 2005, SMG represented Kimco in its acquisition of various shopping centers located throughout the United States in transactions valued in excess of $250 million.
  • Between 2005 and 2007, SMG represented Tishman Speyer in its acquisition of office and residential properties valued at $12.4 billion.
  • In 2005, SMG represented GE Pension Trust in its acquisition of 195 Broadway in New York City, a 914,000-square-foot office building valued at $275 million.
